iPhone – iPhone 3G Retail Price by O2 Pay & Go
Good news. Always thinking how to avoid the carrier postpaid contract? Now O2 posted pricing for the iPhone 3G when purchased through its Pay & Go prepaid program, showing £300 (about $591) for the 8 GB and a brutal £360 (about $709) for the 16 GB.
iPhone is coming soon for Pay & Go
Customers will soon be able to enjoy all the great features of iPhone without a monthly contract with the iPhone for Pay & Go.
Just register your interest opposite and we’ll drop you a line in early July to tell you what you need to do to be one of the first to get your hands on the new 3G iPhone.
More information on the new iPhone will be available shortly so come back in a few days or visit www.apple.com
Without contract, Malaysian could get the iPhone 3G fast (without unlock and jailbreak) as neither Malaysian nor Singapore is in the first batch country list. Yet, Singapore is in the second batch (probably end of 2008? who knows…)

wow wait a minute. it’s not that simple. looks like the UK version of iPhone Pay n Go will still being tied with the telco. look here,
http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/06/27/o2_to_open_early_may_unlock_iphone_3g_after_one_year.html
although it doesn’t tied with any contract, it’s still locked with the specified telco. so looks like we still need to unlock it (in case u just wanna get it in store and then bring it home without a whole year tenure with O2).
it’s just like our previous situation (bring iPhone home and jailbreak), only it will be more expensive.
btw myb we can check other country’s policy regarding this iPhone. heard before that in Australia it will be unlocked. and looking at the history of previous iPhone release, looks like France and Germany are also perfect candidates for this unlocked flavour. but remember though that sans-contract version from both these countries are still country-locked (as with current incarnation of iPhone). dunno if it will have a change in policy. still, it does look promising.
hope can get non-contract version at cheapet rate. looking forward for July 11th!
